Water Extraction Service
Why Does Water Need to Be Professionally Extracted?
Once we are certain that no more water is going to be causing damage, then we can get on with the job of removing or extracting the water. Safety is of course of vital importance so we need to be certain that there is no possibility of the electrical supply for example being affected by the water ingress. It is almost always a good idea to turn off the electricity; however that in itself can be an issue if people will then be left in a darkened building. People first, property later is a good general rule to follow.
Water gets everywhere. An important consideration is to locate the source of the water ingress and make sure that the source is stopped. This can include shutting off the commercial or domestic water supply at the stop cock, contacting the local Water Board if the leak looks like it’s coming in from outside or even examining and checking for leaks in pipes, water tanks and the like.
When the site is secure and safe then we can create a plan to remove the water from the building. Depending of course of the extent of the water damage then we use different methods of water extraction. If you’re in any doubt, please call us immediately on 0800 9991500. It’s far better to be safe than sorry.
Water Extraction Methods
High powered water pumps as used by the fire service can be used if the volume of water is large. Pumps such as sump pumps can help remove water from a building. Vacuum pumps such as domestic wet and dry vacuum pumps can also be used but you can be assured that the pumps that we use can handle far greater volumes of water than a domestic appliance such as a Vax
When pumping large volumes of water, you can’t simply pump it out into a river. Depending on the sort of contaminants in the water, special licences may or not be needed. Please get in touch with one of our specialists if you are concerned on 0800 9991500 and we’ll be happy to help
Making Good After Water Extraction
Once the majority of the water has been removed from the building then we can move on to the drying out phase. It’s important to realise that even though the obvious signs of water may have gone that there may well be excess water residue in carpets, walls and even ceilings depending of course on the amount of water ingress in the first place.
Before switching the electricity back on, it is vital that the electrical system is thoroughly checked by a qualified Electrician.
Once the building is safe then we can start the process of thoroughly drying out the building and making good after the water extraction itself is completed. This could involve us utilising portable industrial heaters, dehumidifying equipment and the like. Every instance is different so please get in touch with us and we’ll be happy to help. Our professional water extraction teams are available all across the UK. Please call us on 0800 9991500 and we’ll be happy to help
